Where 100 KB limits show up Visa and immigration portals, university applications, ID-card systems, school forms and many job sites cap photo uploads at 100 KB. It is a generous enough limit to keep a clear portrait, as long as the compression is done carefully.

What FitKB does differently Instead of guessing a quality setting, FitKB tries qualities in a binary search and keeps the best one that fits under the limit. If the full-size image cannot fit even at low quality, it scales the pixel dimensions down step by step, then searches again. The result is usually the sharpest JPG that can legally fit. For a 100 KB target the output is at most 98,000 bytes, so it is accepted whether the site counts a KB as 1,000 or 1,024 bytes.

How to use it 1. Drop your image in the box at the top of this page. 2. Keep the 100 KB setting (or choose another limit). 3. Press Convert. Compare the original and result side by side, use 1:1 zoom to check detail, then download.

Why the dimensions may change Kilobytes measure data, not pixels. A 4000 × 3000 photo has 12 million pixels; squeezing that into 100 KB would destroy quality, so FitKB may reduce it to around 1200–1600 pixels wide where it looks clean. If your portal also requires specific pixel dimensions, crop or resize first, then compress.

Metadata The output is a fresh JPEG with no EXIF block, so location and device details are removed. FitKB checks the file and shows a confirmation.

Privacy, in plain terms: FitKB runs entirely in your browser tab. Your photo is decoded and re-encoded on your own device using the browser canvas. Nothing is uploaded, there are no analytics or tracking scripts, and the page's Content-Security-Policy blocks connections to other servers. You can switch off Wi-Fi after the page loads and it keeps working.
